St. John Bosco Vocational Training School was founded in 1994 by a group of catechists of Kyarusozi Catholic Parish. Originally it was founded to help young girls and women to acquire skills for self-sustenance. In 2004 it was realized that many young boys in the community were not in school and could benefit from technical training, so the school was expanded to invite both young women and men. St. John Bosco now offers courses such as tailoring, hairdressing, knitting, brick laying and concrete practice, motor vehicle mechanics and driving, carpentry and joinery, plumbing, and electric and solar power installation. In 2017 Let Us Move Mountains assisted in building a women’s dorm for the school and in 2018 we co-funded the development of a five year strategic plan to sustainability and helped the school sell 300 student-made scarves to purchase a computer lab.
